How to Book a Flight Reservation for New Zealand Visa

A valid flight reservation for a New Zealand visa should show a genuine proposed journey, accurate passenger details and a booking reference that can be checked through the relevant airline. It should also fit your travel purpose, intended arrival date and plans to leave New Zealand, where those plans are required.

You do not need to commit to a non-refundable airfare simply to start planning your application. Immigration New Zealand recommends waiting until a Visitor Visa is approved before booking non-refundable travel. Its visitor guidance also allows evidence of funds to buy an outward ticket, rather than requiring every applicant to buy one in advance. Follow the evidence requested for your own application.

How to Secure a Valid Flight Reservation for a New Zealand Visa Application

Booking Reservation for Visa, or BRFV, offers temporary flight bookings for applicants worldwide. This guide explains what a suitable itinerary should contain, how to verify it, what reservation validity means and how to request a booking from your actual departure country.

Why arrange a verifiable flight reservation before buying the airfare

Travel dates often remain provisional while a New Zealand application is being assessed. Purchasing an inflexible ticket too early can leave an applicant facing cancellation costs or a journey that no longer fits the decision date. A temporary reservation provides a way to document intended travel while keeping the later airfare purchase separate, where the application accepts this form of evidence.

The value lies in the booking record as well as the document. A clear itinerary helps a reader understand when the traveller intends to arrive, how the journey is organised and how a temporary stay is expected to conclude. Verification allows the reservation details to be checked during the confirmed hold period.

BRFV’s reservation service is intended for this planning stage. Choose the journey that reflects your circumstances and review the service conditions before payment. A reservation complements the application; the decision still depends on the evidence required for the relevant visa category.

What is a flight reservation for a New Zealand visa

A verifiable flight reservation is a booking record showing your proposed air journey. A New Zealand visa flight itinerary normally identifies the passenger, airline, airports, flight numbers, dates, times and reservation reference, often called a PNR or booking reference.

Applicants also search for an airline reservation, air ticket reservation or temporary flight booking. These terms may describe similar planning documents, but an unpaid reservation does not give you permission to board a flight.

For a short visit, you might request a return flight reservation or round-trip itinerary. If you continue to another country, request an onward travel itinerary. A multi-city flight reservation can show a journey involving several destinations.

Document What it shows What to understand
Flight reservation A held booking and proposed flight itinerary Check that the relevant segments remain active and confirm the expiry.
Fare quotation or search result Flights and prices available when searched It may have no booking record or held seats.
Issued airline ticket Ticketed travel associated with a booking Confirm the ticket status and fare conditions before travelling.

A PNR alone does not establish that a booking has been paid or ticketed. Keep the distinction clear when describing documents in your application.

Is a flight reservation compulsory for every New Zealand application

There is no single flight reservation rule covering every visitor, student, worker and residence applicant. Your visa category, circumstances and any instructions from Immigration New Zealand determine the evidence you need.

A proposed itinerary can help explain your plans, but it does not automatically satisfy a requirement for a paid ticket, sufficient outward travel funds or sponsorship. Immigration New Zealand may request further evidence while assessing an application.

Your passport also matters more than the country where you happen to live. A Pakistani passport holder residing in Canada should not assume that Canadian residence gives them the travel permissions of a Canadian citizen. Equally, a visa-waiver passport holder may still need a visa for work, longer study or residence.

For eligible short visits, citizens of countries such as the USA, Canada and the UK, and eligible passport holders from Schengen countries, can generally travel with an NZeTA instead of obtaining a Visitor Visa in advance. Australian citizens travelling on Australian passports do not need a visa or NZeTA. Australian permanent residents normally need an NZeTA unless another exemption applies.

What are the requirements for a flight reservation for a New Zealand visa

If you attach a flight reservation, check the document itself against the points below. These are practical booking checks; a 14-day hold, a famous airline or a passport number printed on the itinerary is not a universal New Zealand visa requirement.

  • Passenger name matching the passport. Give the provider the correct spelling and name order. If the airline displays names in a compressed format, ask the provider to explain the format before submission.
  • Accurate identity details. Where the airline, provider or application checklist requires a passport number, date of birth or nationality, supply the correct information through a secure channel. A passport number is not necessarily printed on an airline itinerary. Do not edit the confirmation to add one yourself.
  • A genuine airline booking reference. Obtain the airline record locator needed for verification. An agency order number may be different from the reference recognised by the airline.
  • An identifiable airline. Use a real carrier and a feasible route. Recognised international airlines can be practical choices, but a legitimate regional carrier is not unsuitable simply because it is less famous.
  • Complete flight details. Include the airline, flight number, departure and arrival airports, travel dates and local departure and arrival times for every booked sector.
  • Every connection and transit point. Show intermediate airports, overnight connections, airport changes and any separate domestic sectors. Check transit permissions and whether baggage collection requires entry into a connecting country.
  • An appropriate journey format. Use a return, onward, one-way or multi-city itinerary that reflects your actual purpose and the relevant evidence requirements. A one-way arrival reservation alone does not demonstrate plans to leave after a temporary visit.
  • Consistency across your documents. Match your itinerary to your leave dates, invitation, course start, employment plans and accommodation. Account for arrival on a different calendar date after a long-haul flight.
  • A clear reservation status. Confirm whether each segment is held, confirmed, waitlisted, cancelled or ticketed. Ask the provider to explain unfamiliar status codes.
  • A written expiry and support arrangement. Ask when the reservation stops being active and what happens if processing continues beyond that date. Request any extension before expiry and obtain confirmation of its outcome.
  • A readable, unaltered confirmation. Keep the original flight booking confirmation and verification instructions. Correct errors through the issuer so the PDF and the live airline record remain consistent.

An itinerary should remain checkable during its confirmed active period. If your case remains under review after that period, arrange an appropriate update when needed. A provider cannot promise an uninterrupted hold throughout an unknown processing period without airline confirmation.

How to book a New Zealand visa flight reservation through BRFV

The BRFV booking form collects passenger information, journey details and the information needed to prepare and deliver your reservation. Complete the sections in the order below, keeping your passport and intended travel dates available while you enter the details.

how-to-book-flight-reservation-for-new-zealand-travel-application

Step 1 Open the Flight Reservation service

Open the BRFV website and find the Pricing & Plans section. Select Flight Reservation and choose Order Now to open the flight booking form. If you also need accommodation evidence, review the Flight + Hotel package before selecting your service.

choose-flight-reservation-plan-for-getting-travel-document-for-new-zealand-visa-step-1

Step 2 Complete the traveller information

In Traveler Information, select the number of travellers and enter your email address and telephone number. Choose the appropriate title and provide each passenger’s first and last names in the format shown in the passport. For a family or group order, complete the details for every person rather than entering only the lead applicant.

Use an email address you can access, because the reservation document will be delivered there. Check names and contact details before continuing.

Step 3 Choose your journey type

Under CHOOSE YOUR TRIP, select One Way, Round Trip or Multiple Cities, according to the itinerary you actually need. Your selection should reflect the proposed journey and the evidence relevant to your New Zealand application.

A return itinerary can show the intended arrival and departure for a temporary visit. A one-way or multi-city request should fit the actual travel purpose and any applicable outward travel requirements. Review any additional charge displayed for the selected option.

Step 4 Enter the flight details and any preferences

Complete Traveler Flight Details with your departure city, New Zealand destination and intended travel dates. For a round trip, include the return departure point and date. For multiple cities, describe each part of the journey in its correct sequence.

If you have additional flight preferences, select the relevant option and explain them in Additional Flight Details. Provide clear instructions for the complete itinerary. Requested airlines and timings remain subject to availability.

complete-trip-details-for-getting-flight-reservation-for-new-zealand-visa

Step 5 Fill in the general application and delivery details

Continue to General Details and complete the applicable fields, including how you heard about BRFV. In What Consulate Are You Applying At?, identify the New Zealand application you are preparing and add the relevant application location where appropriate.

Choose when you need the itinerary. The form offers an option for delivery within the advertised 1–2-hour window and an option to request preparation on a different date. Provide an interview date, time and time zone only where these details apply. If a required field does not fit your application, ask BRFV support how to complete it accurately.

Step 6 Review the order summary

Check the Order Summary and the Flight Itinerary Total. Confirm that the amount reflects the selected number of travellers, journey type and any applicable extras. Review your passenger names, travel dates and email address again before proceeding.

The single-traveller price and a group order may be calculated differently. Use the total displayed for your actual selection rather than assuming that every additional passenger costs the same amount.

Step 7 Review the terms and complete payment

Read the applicable privacy policy and service terms before selecting PAY NOW. Follow the checkout instructions and complete payment using an available method. Keep the order and payment confirmation so you can identify the request if you need assistance.

Step 8 Receive and verify the flight itinerary

Once the reservation is prepared, check the email address entered with the order, including the spam folder. Review the delivered document for the correct passenger names, dates, journey details and booking reference.

Use the supplied airline reference and passenger surname to check the reservation through the supported airline channel. Contact BRFV promptly if anything is incorrect or the booking cannot be retrieved. Complete this review before attaching the itinerary to your application, and keep track of its confirmed expiry date.

BRFV service pricing in USD and New Zealand dollars

Booking Reservation for Visa offers flight reservations, hotel bookings and a combined flight-and-hotel package. The table below shows the advertised prices for one traveller, together with approximate New Zealand dollar equivalents.

BRFV service Advertised price in USD Approximate price in NZD Reservation documents included
Flight Reservation US$15.00 NZ$26.75 Flight itinerary with an airline booking reference for verification.
Hotel Booking US$15.00 NZ$26.75 Accommodation reservation showing the proposed guest and stay details.
Flight + Hotel Combo Package US$24.00 NZ$42.79 Both flight and accommodation reservation documents.

These are reservation service fees. They do not purchase the airfare or prepay the actual hotel stay, and they are separate from New Zealand visa or immigration charges. Select the documents relevant to your application and accommodation plans.

Additional charges and group pricing

The flight booking form currently displays a US$3.00 supplement, approximately NZ$5.35, for the Multiple Cities option. Check the order summary to see how the charge applies to your selection.

The form also offers prices for different numbers of travellers, so a family or group total may differ from a simple multiplication of the single-traveller rate. Confirm the final checkout amount, together with any correction, cancellation or extension conditions, before paying. Buying the flight and hotel services separately costs US$30.00 at the advertised single-traveller rates, compared with US$24.00 for the combined package.

BRFV Flight Reservations for New Zealand Visa Applications

BRFV provides temporary, verifiable flight reservations that help applicants present their intended New Zealand journey without purchasing the full airfare in advance. The itinerary shows passenger names, proposed travel dates, flight details and a booking reference that can be checked through the relevant airline.

Choose a one-way, return or multi-city reservation according to your travel plans and application requirements. Provide passport-matching names and ensure the dates agree with your invitation, accommodation or study schedule. Before submission, review the delivered confirmation, verify the booking and check its active validity period.

Verifiable Hotel Bookings for Your New Zealand Stay

BRFV’s hotel booking service helps applicants document their proposed accommodation when supporting evidence is requested. A suitable confirmation identifies the guest, property, check-in and check-out dates, and reservation details. Verification can be completed using the hotel contact information supplied with the document.

For a visit involving several locations, provide the intended stay dates for each city so the accommodation reservations follow your travel itinerary. Hotel dates should correspond with your arrival and departure plans. The service provides reservation documentation; it does not mean that the actual hotel stay has been prepaid.

BRFV Combined Flight and Hotel Reservation Package

The BRFV Flight + Hotel package allows applicants to request both travel and accommodation reservations through one order. It suits travellers who need a flight itinerary alongside hotel confirmations for their proposed New Zealand visit.

Preparing both documents together makes it easier to coordinate passenger and guest names, arrival dates, accommodation periods and departure arrangements. Supply the complete travel schedule, including any changes of destination or accommodation. Once the documents arrive, review both confirmations and use the supplied verification methods to check the airline and hotel records before submission.

How long is a New Zealand visa flight reservation valid

BRFV advertises reservation validity of up to 14 days. Its current homepage says an extension can be requested for up to 21 days in total, subject to airline approval. An extension is not automatic. Confirm the expiry of your particular booking in writing.

Reservation validity describes how long the booking remains active. It does not describe your visa validity, permitted stay or how quickly Immigration New Zealand will decide your case.

If processing continues beyond the hold, contact the provider before it expires. Ask whether the airline can maintain the existing record or whether a new arrangement is needed. If relevant details change, follow the application’s document update process or the case officer’s instructions. Never treat an expired PDF as evidence of a currently active reservation.

For example, a 14-day hold will not cover a case that remains under review for several more weeks. Keep track of the booking expiry separately from your intended travel dates.

How to verify your flight reservation directly with the airline

Use the airline’s official website or app, rather than relying only on a screenshot supplied by the booking provider. Airline booking tools commonly ask for a booking reference and surname. Use the airline reference supplied for your booking; an agency order number may not retrieve the reservation.

  1. Open the relevant airline’s official Manage Booking, My Trips or equivalent page.
  2. Enter the airline booking reference and the passenger surname in the required format.
  3. Compare the displayed passenger, airports, dates and flight sectors with your itinerary.
  4. Review the status of each segment and any ticketing deadline shown.
  5. For a codeshare or more than one airline, ask the provider for any additional carrier references needed to check the full journey.
  6. If the booking cannot be found, ask the issuer to investigate. A wrong surname format, different carrier reference, access limitation or cancelled booking can require different solutions.

An agency reference and an airline reference may differ. Likewise, a travel-system lookup such as CheckMyTrip is useful only when it supports the particular booking; it does not establish that an unpaid reservation is an issued ticket.

Before departure, confirm actual ticket issuance, valid travel permissions and the airline’s check-in requirements. A temporary visa itinerary cannot be used to fly.

Flight Reservation Samples for New Zealand Visa Applications

The following samples illustrate how a flight reservation presents the complete journey, including outbound flights, connections and return arrangements. They also show how different airlines and operating carriers can appear within the same itinerary.

Nigeria to New Zealand with Different Return Connections

Outbound route: Lagos → Doha → Adelaide → Auckland
Return route: Auckland → Dubai → Lagos

This sample shows a journey from Nigeria to New Zealand with different connections on the outbound and return trips. The outbound itinerary includes Qatar Airways services and an Iberia-marketed flight operated by Qatar Airways, with Adelaide shown as an intermediate stop. The return journey uses Emirates through Dubai. It demonstrates why every connection should appear clearly in the reservation.

Worldwide Flight Reservations Beyond These Samples

BRFV offers flight reservations worldwide. Its services are not limited to Nigeria, Türkiye, India or the countries and connections shown in these samples. Applicants in other countries can request one-way, return or multi-city reservations for New Zealand and other international destinations.

These examples illustrate itinerary formats rather than a fixed selection of available journeys. Your reservation is prepared using your passenger details, intended travel dates and requested journey, subject to airline availability and the evidence required for your application.

Flight reservations for different New Zealand visa types and immigration pathways

Choose travel evidence for the exact category you are using. The table below covers the main visa families and specialist pathways from a booking perspective; individual categories can set different conditions. Use Immigration New Zealand’s current visa directory for the complete list and category-specific instructions.

Visa type or pathway How to approach the flight itinerary
Tourist visits, family visits and ordinary Visitor Visas Show a genuine proposed visit. A return or onward plan should fit the intended stay and the evidence requested.
Business visitors, meetings, conferences and events Align dates with the invitation and permitted activities. Do not use a business itinerary to imply permission to take employment.
Parent and other longer visitor categories, including Parent Boost Plan flights around the category’s actual conditions and each intended visit. Do not assume that permission for repeated visits requires reservations for every future journey.
Fee-paying, scholarship, exchange, pathway and dependent student categories Align arrival with enrolment and accommodation. INZ student fund guidance requires a fully paid outward ticket or enough additional money to buy one; an unpaid hold alone does not prove either.
Accredited Employer Work Visa and other employer-linked work Align proposed arrival with the job and approved travel conditions. Confirm whether a return or onward condition applies to the visa actually issued.
Post Study Work, working holiday and partnership work categories Match the itinerary to the purpose and category. Do not assume all work visas require a return reservation or all permit one-way travel.
Seasonal, Recognised Seasonal Employer and specific-purpose work Coordinate with the employer or organiser. Use the scheme’s actual arrival, departure and travel arrangements rather than a generic tourist route.
Partner, dependent child, guardian and accompanying family categories Keep each traveller’s sectors and dates consistent. Different family members may hold different visa categories and travel conditions.
Skilled Migrant, Green List Straight to Residence and Work to Residence, and other work-based residence pathways Keep temporary work travel separate from later residence plans. A reservation does not establish eligibility or a residence decision.
Active Investor Plus, business investor and retirement pathways Follow the category’s approval stages and any travel instructions. Use a genuine intended arrival date when an itinerary is needed.
Partnership, parent, dependent child and other family residence A settlement journey may be one-way. Follow the approval letter and entry deadline rather than creating an artificial short visit.
Transit through New Zealand to another country INZ requests detailed confirmed travel arrangements, relevant timings and onward travel evidence. Its Transit Visa checklist refers to a fully paid ticket or another form of onward arrangement; check the specific evidence required.
Pacific Access, Samoan Quota, humanitarian, refugee, protection and other specialist routes Follow the programme’s travel arrangements and official directions. Do not assume a commercial reservation is required or purchase one before checking.
Permanent residents, returning residents, onshore extensions and changes of conditions Check whether international travel is actually planned and permitted. Do not create a flight booking solely because another applicant used one.

For some work visas, the onward travel position is stated in the visa conditions. Check the eVisa and the guidance for that category before deciding whether to request a one-way or return itinerary.

Flight reservations for New Zealand applicants in key countries

BRFV accepts online reservation requests from applicants in different countries. The booking process centres on accurate passenger information, a suitable itinerary and a verifiable record. The following guidance concerns obtaining flight reservations for New Zealand applications.

Booking a New Zealand visa itinerary from India

Applicants in India can order a New Zealand visa flight reservation online by providing their passport names, intended travel dates and journey type. The booking should reflect the purpose stated in the application, whether a holiday, family visit, business trip or study programme. Review the reservation reference and passenger details before adding the confirmation to your file. Indian nationals living overseas should use their genuine country of departure and keep their residence information consistent with the application.

Verifiable New Zealand airline reservations for Pakistani applicants

For applicants in Pakistan, a verifiable airline reservation can help present an intended New Zealand journey without purchasing the full airfare at the application stage. Request a document showing the complete journey, each traveller’s correct name and a retrievable airline reference. If a family applies together, check every passenger individually. Pakistani nationals residing in Canada, the UK, the Gulf or another country can request a booking reflecting their overseas residence and actual travel plan.

Accurate passenger details for New Zealand bookings from China

Applicants in China should provide passenger names in the Roman-letter format shown in their passports and review the confirmation for spelling and name-order accuracy. A temporary flight booking should support the dates and travel purpose described in the application. Different travel documents and existing immigration permissions can affect the applicable entry route. In particular, eligible Chinese visitors travelling directly from Australia may qualify for special NZeTA arrangements; simply connecting through Australia does not establish eligibility.

Checking New Zealand reservation validity and verification in Russia

Applicants in Russia should select a reservation service that can explain how the underlying airline record will be verified and how long it will remain active. Accurate passport transliteration, realistic dates and clear booking status matter more than the appearance of the PDF. Confirm availability and the final service price before ordering, particularly for a more complex journey. Where processing continues beyond the initial hold, request support before the reservation expires.

Coordinating travel dates for applicants for New Zealand in Morocco

Applicants in Morocco can request a flight itinerary for a New Zealand application using the same core booking information: passport-matching names, proposed dates, journey type and onward or return plans where appropriate. Review the complete reservation rather than relying on a payment receipt or fare quotation. The itinerary should agree with the accommodation period, invitation and intended duration of the visit. Applicants resident abroad should describe their actual departure and return arrangements.

Reviewing New Zealand flight confirmations for Nigerian applicants

For applicants in Nigeria, the reservation should provide a clear account of the proposed New Zealand visit and remain traceable through the supplied airline reference during its confirmed active period. Check name order, travel dates and each included traveller before submission. A verifiable itinerary supports travel planning, while financial evidence, employment information, invitations and other requested documents serve separate purposes. Obtain written clarification of the hold period and any extension conditions before relying on the booking.

Planning New Zealand study and family travel from the Philippines

Applicants in the Philippines can arrange a temporary airline booking for a visitor, business, student or other appropriate New Zealand application. Match the reservation to the stated purpose: a family visit should follow the invitation, while a study arrival should fit the education provider’s schedule. For group orders, confirm that all names and dates are correct. Filipino nationals working or living overseas can order from their current location and request an itinerary that reflects their genuine plans.

Worldwide flight reservations for New Zealand

Applicants can request a New Zealand travel itinerary from their country of residence or another genuine departure point. BRFV advertises worldwide ordering, but actual routes and airline availability must be confirmed. Country coverage does not guarantee that every airport, airline or payment method is supported.

The table covers countries outside Schengen, with Schengen members listed separately below. Grouped rows keep the worldwide reference compact. These are booking considerations, not nationality-based visa decisions.

Already in New Zealand New Zealand Check whether travel evidence is requested for the onshore application before ordering.
Other countries and territories Kosovo, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and other territories worldwide Request verification instructions and review the delivered confirmation before submission.

For example, a Pakistani national living in Canada should request a Toronto-to-New Zealand itinerary if Toronto is the intended departure point. A Nigerian resident of the UAE may need a Dubai-to-New Zealand booking. The application should explain the real journey and the traveller’s right to return to the proposed onward destination.

Booking a New Zealand flight reservation from the Schengen zone

The Schengen area currently has 29 member countries. This table concerns travel from those countries to New Zealand, including travel by foreign residents. Holding a Schengen residence permit does not itself make a person a national of a visa-waiver country.

Applicants residing in a Schengen country can request a New Zealand visa reservation online. Give the provider your passport names, intended dates, travel purpose and return or onward plans. Where you intend to return to your country of residence, ensure that your residence permission supports that plan.

Choosing between a return onward and one-way reservation

Return flight reservations for temporary visits

A return flight reservation presents an intended departure and return within one travel plan. It can be useful for a holiday, a visit to relatives or a time-limited business trip because the proposed end of the visit is visible alongside the arrival. The dates should fit the purpose of travel, available leave and accommodation arrangements.

The return date should be genuine and financially realistic. A neatly formatted itinerary cannot resolve a conflict between a brief invitation and a much longer unexplained stay. If plans change during processing, keep the travel evidence consistent with the explanation provided to Immigration New Zealand.

Onward travel to another country

An onward travel itinerary can show departure from New Zealand to a destination other than the original departure country. This may suit a longer international trip or a return to an overseas country of residence. The traveller must be able to enter the proposed onward destination under the relevant rules.

Describe that onward plan consistently across the application. Where outward travel funds are being used instead of a purchased ticket, provide the financial evidence requested rather than assuming that an unpaid booking proves the money is available.

One-way and multi-city reservations

A one-way arrival may reflect a genuine settlement plan or another category-specific situation. For temporary study or work, however, outward travel conditions may still apply. Select the itinerary after checking those conditions rather than choosing a one-way reservation only because the service fee is convenient.

A multi-city flight reservation suits a journey with several destinations or different arrival and departure points. Each part should serve the actual travel purpose. Ask for all relevant sectors to appear in order so the confirmation remains understandable and can be checked through the appropriate references.

Coordinating flight reservations with accommodation and supporting documents

Flight and accommodation documents should describe the same visit. Where hotel reservations are included, the check-in date should correspond with arrival in New Zealand and the final stay should fit the planned departure. An overnight journey can mean the local arrival date differs from the departure date.

Applicants staying with relatives or friends should use the host evidence required for that arrangement. Hotel bookings should represent nights genuinely intended for hotel accommodation. A short hotel confirmation does not automatically establish suitable housing for a long-term residence application.

For students, the proposed arrival should allow for the actual course schedule and confirmed accommodation arrangements. For business visitors, it should fit the invitation and event dates. Families should review the complete set of documents together so that different applications do not contain contradictory dates or passenger information.

What to do after receiving your BRFV reservation

Review the confirmation immediately. Check every passenger’s name, travel date, journey segment and booking reference, then complete the supported airline verification. Report any discrepancy promptly so the issuer can correct the underlying record and provide an updated document where appropriate.

Keep the booking expiry separate from the intended travel date. Set a reminder to contact the provider before the active period ends if you still need reservation support. An extension requires confirmation; retaining the original PDF does not keep the airline record active.

After visa approval, arrange the ticket needed for the actual journey and review the applicable travel conditions. A later ticket purchase may involve a different fare or schedule. Make sure the final travel arrangements remain compatible with the permission granted.

Common problems to fix before submitting an itinerary

  • The itinerary starts in your citizenship country even though you actually plan to depart from your overseas country of residence.
  • The document shows only the first international flight and leaves out a later connection to New Zealand.
  • The flight arrives a day later than the accommodation check-in or after the event or course begins.
  • The printed PNR cannot retrieve the intended booking and the issuer has not resolved the problem.
  • A flight sector is waitlisted or cancelled although the document describes the entire itinerary as confirmed.
  • The temporary reservation is presented as a paid ticket, or the booking expires before the date it is needed.
  • A return itinerary points to a country the traveller cannot re-enter.
  • Dates or passenger details have been manually changed on the PDF without correcting the booking record.

Frequently asked questions about New Zealand visa flight reservations

Can I get a flight reservation without paying the full airfare

Yes, a genuine temporary reservation may be available without buying the ticket. A reservation provider may charge a service fee. Use this option only where it fits the evidence requested; “without full airfare payment” does not necessarily mean the service is free.

Is a dummy ticket acceptable for a New Zealand visa

The term is used inconsistently. If it means a genuine, checkable temporary booking, describe it accurately as a reservation. A fabricated ticket or an invented PNR is not genuine travel evidence. An unpaid booking does not replace a paid ticket where one is required.

Must my passport number appear on the flight reservation

Not every itinerary displays it. Supply accurate passport information where requested by the airline, provider or application instructions, and ensure the passenger name matches the passport. Request a corrected document through the issuer if necessary.

Does New Zealand require a 14-day reservation

There is no universal 14-day reservation requirement. Confirm the provider’s actual hold period and the documents requested for your case. A reservation’s expiry and a visa’s validity are separate matters.

Can a reservation stay verifiable throughout visa processing

Only if the booking remains active for that period under arrangements confirmed by the airline and provider. Processing may exceed the initial hold. Monitor the expiry and request support before it ends.

Can I use a one-way booking for study work or residence

It depends on the category and the travel conditions. A one-way arrival plan may be appropriate, but temporary applicants must still meet any separate outward travel or funds requirement. Residence travel should follow the approval instructions.

Can applicants living in the USA Canada UK Australia or Europe use BRFV

They can request a reservation from their genuine departure location. Whether they need visa-related flight evidence depends on the passport, visa category and circumstances. Residence abroad and citizenship should be recorded separately.

Do I need hotel reservations as well

Provide the accommodation evidence relevant to your plans. If staying with family, use the appropriate host information rather than booking a hotel you do not intend to use. Where you include hotel bookings, align them with your actual New Zealand arrival and departure dates.

Does a verified PNR guarantee approval or permission to board

No. It helps establish that a booking record exists. Immigration New Zealand decides the application, and the airline checks ticketing and travel requirements before boarding.

Request a verifiable New Zealand flight itinerary

Prepare your passenger details, intended dates and full departure-to-destination route, then request a BRFV flight reservation. Confirm the price and expiry, verify the booking and use it alongside the evidence requested for your application.
